Zhang (this is my last name, incidentally) - Japanese? No.
Why???
I guess if Brad Pitt can play Greek (Troy), Tony Shalhoub can be Italian (Big Night), and Rene Zellweger can be a Brit (Bridget Jones), Zhang Ziyi can play Japanese. I might cringe at the accent, but oh well. She looks nice. :)
I am more into the costumes.
It also looks lovely.
I have tried to find pictures of Gong Li but have been unsuccessful.

A: The costumes and art direction look beautiful. Everything seems touched by sakura blossoms, including Zhang Ziyi's skin. :)
